Ministries & Classes
The Senior’s Ministry at VRL (Classic Senior's) is a group that helps with the needs and interests of people who are 55 and older. Our events include potluck luncheons or dinners, game nights, movie nights, and sometimes short trips around the area. Special events might include a day at the lake during the summer and a Christmas lights tour in the community in December.
We encourage senior's to become part of a regular small group for Bible study, prayer, accountability, and fellowship. Then, join us for some fun at our many events.

OCTOBER EVENT: SAVE THE DATE AND PURCHASE TICKETS NOW
Newport Scenic Autumn Train
Saturday, October 7 | 10:45AM Depart VRL 1PM Train Ride
$15/ticket for 65+
All Aboard! Join our Classic Senior's group on the scenic Pend Oreille River train. Enjoy the fall colors as the route follows the absolutely gorgeous river departing north from New Port to the little whistle-stop at Dalkena. You must purchase your tickets now for this October event as tickets are limited and go quickly. See links below.
We plan to carpool from VRL leaving promptly at 10:45AM for the 1PM train. Cost is $15 for 65+. You may take a sack lunch to eat on the train or choose items from the snack bar at the station. One of the cars of the train is wheel chair accessible; plan to arrive an hour prior & make them aware of your needs. There are restrooms on the train.
This is the same route Native Americans followed and lived along for millennia. We’ll trace the footsteps and paddle strokes of early French couriers d’bois, grizzled sour dough’s on their way north to the Klondike gold rush, steamboat gamblers, loggers, miners, homesteaders, and outlaws. Our train crew knows the history, and the romance of this fantastic corner of the inland northwest. We’ll tell you about it, as the wheels and tracks make that music that made America.
Along the way, you just might spot a moose or an elk. Eagles will be eyeing you from their tree tops. And, you’ll want to be on the lookout for the descendants of the Dalkena Wild Bunch Gang—nefarious train robbers and fancy women from a hundred years ago. Hang onto your wallet and your pocket watch! After a turn-around in Dalkena, we’ll have you back to Newport in about an hour and a half.
